SquareTrade is a United States-based extended warranty services providing company that has been based in San Francisco, California. It started its services way back in the year 1999 and had been providing the Appliances Warranty and the Consumer Electronics services to their customers since then. It is the result of the efforts and ideas of Steve Abernethy along with the co-owner Ahmed Khaishgi.

Create an account with Square Trade :
To create an account, you need to go to, www.squaretrade.com
- Then, at the top right corner click on, ‘Login’, or go to www.squaretrade.com/frontend/password-management

- Most new purchases come with a manufacturer’s warranty that cover defects due to parts or workmanship.
- Like other extended warranties, SquareTrade coverage only begins when the manufacturer’s warranty ends (typically up to one year from the date of purchase). If there’s an issue with your item while the original warranty is still active, your claim will be referred to the manufacturer. Alternately, if your plan includes Accident Protection, SquareTrade covers your item from day one.
- While most SquareTrade Protection Plans only cover new items, there are used or refurbished items that they do cover, including:

- SquareTrade Family Plans require that only one phone either be purchased in the last 30 days or be insured by a carrier until the date you purchased your SquareTrade warranty.

You have to note, they do not cover:

Any items, regardless of condition, purchased from classified ads, classifieds like Craigslist, or any other person-to-person sales.
- SquareTrade Protection Plans covers all mechanical/electrical failures that happen during normal use, such as button failure, depleted (non-replaceable) batteries, and non-responsive charging ports or audio jacks. Plans that include accident protection also cover damage from accidents like drop and spills.
- If a protected item is damaged and we determine it can be repaired, we cover 100% of the cost of parts and labor. If your item is irreparable, we’ll contact you to discuss options for replacing your item. Coverage lasts for the term of your plan or until the coverage amount of your plan (generally equal to item purchase price) is used up.
- You have up to 30 days from when you purchased the item to protect it with a SquareTrade Protection Plan. We will verify the purchase date when you submit your item receipt during the claim filing process.
- If you purchased an item that requires it to be delivered to you, you will instead have up to 30 days from the day you receive the item. We may ask you to verify the delivery date with a copy of your shipping receipt during the claim filing process.
- There are two exceptions to the 30-day purchase window:
- You switched from a carrier insurer and can show that your device was insured up to the date of your SquareTrade warranty purchase. Click here for detail.
- You purchased a Family Plan and one phone was either purchased in the last 30 days or insured by a carrier up to the date you purchased your SquareTrade warranty.
- SquareTrade offers coverage for a wide range of consumer electronics and home appliances for indoor use, including things like:
- Smartphones and cell phones
- E-readers and tablets (e.g., Amazon Kindle, iPad, Android tablets)
- Computers and peripherals (e.g., laptop and desktop computers, printers, monitors)
- Televisions and video equipment (e.g., LCD, LED, and plasma TVs, BluRay players, DVRs)
- MP3 players and audio equipment (e.g., home theater systems, headphones)
- GPS navigation and car audio items (e.g., satellite radio receivers, car speakers)
- Cameras and camcorders (e.g., digital and film cameras, camera lenses)

To start using your replacement phone, you first need to activate it. After that, please follow the instructions below and return your broken device to us within 7 days to avoid a charge a charge of $750.
For iPhones:
- Erase all contents and settings to avoid a charge of $750. Visit http://www.squaretrade.com/deactivate for detailed instructions.
- Keep SIM card and accessories
- First, make sure to back up the data on your iPhone. Next, remove your SIM card and put it in your replacement iPhone. For help finding your SIM card, click here.
- Keep all phone accessories, including your charger, screen protector, case, etc.
- Return your broken iPhone
- Reuse the boxes your replacement came in. Put your broken phone in the iPhone box and pack it in the shipping box along with your signed checklist.
- Seal the box with tape, attach the provided shipping label, and mail it back.
For Samsung devices:
- Deactivate the Reactivation Lock to avoid a charge of $750. Visit http://www.squaretrade.com/deactivate for detailed instructions. This rule does not apply if you have the S7 or S7 Edge, as these models do not have a Reactivation Lock.
- Keep your phone accessories

- If your battery on your smartphone won’t hold a charge for more than an hour, try these troubleshooting tips prior to filing a claim:
- Check where your power is going
- On most phones, you can select Battery under the Settings menu (it may be found under Device) to see your battery’s power is going. It may be that something like the brightness level of your display is draining your power quickly. Try adjusting your phone’s settings to see if your battery stays charged longer.
- Turn off features not being used
- Turning off features like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or GPS can help extend your battery’s life.
- Close unused applications
- Make sure to turn off applications after you’ve used them. Some apps that constantly run can seriously drain your battery.
